Matthew Barbato is an American editor, producer, and director with over two decades of filmmaking experience. His professional career initially took off in 2001, when his work on TRAUMA: LIFE IN THE E.R. received a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Sound Editing for a non-fiction program. He has continued to refine his craft since then, editing episodes of several award-winning television series’ including THE GOOD PLACE (2016-17), VEEP (2019), HIGH FIDELITY (2020), DAVE (2020), and ONLY MURDERS IN THE BUILDING (2021). Barbato’s professional credits are not limited to the editing sphere; his varied career includes shooting and directing verité – as is evident in Anthony Bourdain’s first television series, A COOK’S TOUR (2003), for which he acted as camera operator and Director. Barbato’s recent endeavors include work on a remake of the 1990 comedy, HOUSE PARTY, directed by Charles “Calmatic” Kidd II, AMERICAN BORN CHINESE at Disney +, and the upcoming Apple TV + series LESSONS IN CHEMISTRY.
